?Helping people score the job they want?. This is what Anita Byrne is all about.
Destiny ?
From a young age, it seems that Anita was destined to follow the one path. Almost every move she has made has seemed to head her in the one direction. ?Assisting people of all ages in the next step of their career? is what she has done virtually since Day One.
She started out studying a Bachelor of Education at The University of Wollongong but it wasn?t for her so she deferred for a year and did some work with a Local Community Partnership coordinating The Macarthur Area Careers Expo and School to Work Programs (The Student Restaurant, Cows Create Careers, Sign Up For a Job Day) and loved it. She had a very supportive boss who put her through a whole of lot of training because he saw her passion for this type of work and that?s where it all began!
Commencing as a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship Coordinator at 23 years old, Anita became a Career Transition Coordinator/Industry Project Manager before contracting as a Career Guidance Consultant/Group Trainer. At the age of 30 she developed Employment Insight and became a business owner within the Career Services Industry.
She is trained and qualified in the provision of career services ? ?Career Coaching, Counselling & Assessment? (APS endorsed), ?Providing Career Guidance? and she is an active member of The Careers Advisers Association of NSW.
Experience ?
Anita has Field experience assisting individuals from all backgrounds ? government sectors, Centrelink jobseekers under JSA, NES backgrounds, High School students, business executives, injured workers, delivering Indigenous Career Program, delivering ?Parents as Career Helpers? training, coordinating large scale Industry Projects and events (Career Expos).
Her services include Selection Criteria, Customised Cover Letters, Resume Development/Updating, Interview Training, EOI Submissions, Career Coaching and Guidance, Apprenticeship Applications, Vocational Assessments, Government Applications, Transferable Skills Assessments.
With skills like these and such a broad range of services, you?d think that people would be knocking down her door?..especially in this economic climate. But, as Anita tells me, ?Exposure is a problem! People simply don?t know I?m here.? When they do find her they say, ?I wish I had found you months ago?.
Other ?challenges for Anita include the fact that in the Career Services Industry she has to compete with the advertisements of ?cheap and quick? solutions through untrained consultants, including online Resume development businesses. ?I don?t believe you can develop a quality application through such services,? she states. ?Your Resume is a portfolio of your whole career and a career is a big part of most people?s lives.?
Word of mouth and referrals have brought in her biggest business and this tells her that her clients have had a positive experience through using her services. ?Our Initial Consultations are FREE,? says Anita. ?So, even if you?re not sure where you need help in terms of your career or job, just make an appointment and we can help you figure it out.?
A Tip from Anita ?
Anita has a message for new business owners, ?Owning your own business is tough, but it?s worth all the hard work. It?s easy to be very passionate about your own business because it?s enjoyable watching it grow and success ? just don?t get caught up in that too much, make sure you have a good balance in all aspects of your life.?
