WILLMAR ? Fairfax scored three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead and pitcher Tanner Buettner shut down Willmar over the final six innings in an 8-4 victory Friday at Bill Taunton Stadium.
Arthur Forst, who homered in the third inning, drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the sixth. Lead-off hitter Bryce Lindeman followed with a run-scoring single.
Joel Munoz drove in an insurance run in the seventh.
Willmar scored four in the first inning but the bats went silent after that point. Buettner allowed just two Willmar hitters to reach after the first inning and neither runner advanced past second base.
Ryan Horning, Jason Gunvalson, Aaron Wiedemann and Tim Rogers had Willmar?s hits.
Willmar plays host to Marshall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, then travels to Alexandria on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. game.
